Alrescha(α Psc)는 물고기자리에 있는 별이에요. ESA Hipparcos 의 시차 21.66 mas 로 계산하면 약 151광년(1000 ÷ 21.66 × 3.26156 ≈ 150.6) 떨어져 있고, 분광형은 'A2'로 적혀 있어요. Hipparcos 목록 번호는 HIP 9487 이에요.

이름 유래
이슬람 이전 아라비아에서 β And 를 부르던 달이 머무는 자리(달의 집) 이름 al-risha'('끈')에서 왔는데, 근래에 잘못 α Psc 로 옮겨 붙었어요. 한 아랍 자료에 따르면 이슬람 이전 아라비아의 al-risha' 는 넓은 뜻으로 Andromeda 와 물고기자리(Pisces)에 있는, 주로 흐린 별들로 된 굽은 줄 두 개를 함께 일렀고, 이 줄은 al-dalw('우물 두레박', 오늘날의 Square of Pegasus 자리)에 매다는 끈으로 여겨졌어요. 이 '끈'이 더 오래된 바빌로니아 황도대에서 두 물고기를 잇던 끈의 흔적일 수도 있어요. 실제로 이 끈의 별들은 이슬람 이전 아라비아에서 al-hut('물고기', 한 마리)라고도 불렸는데, 다른 문화의 황도 별자리 가운데 물고기자리에 해당하는 것이었어요(이 전통에서 그 물고기의 가장 밝은 별 β And 는 batn al-hut, 곧 '물고기의 배'였어요). IAU 별 이름 작업반(WGSN)이 2016년 8월 21일 이 이름을 채택했어요.

- From the pre-Islamic Arabian lunar mansion name al-risha', "the Cord," for β And. Wrongly transferred to α Psc in recent times. According to a Arabic source, the pre-Islamic Arabian al-risha' included, in a larger sense, two curving lines of mostly dim stars in Andromeda and Pisces, meant to attach to the pre-Islamic Arabian al-dalw "the Well Bucket" (marked by today's Square of Pegasus). It is also possible that this "cord" was a remnant of the cord joining the two fish of the older Babylonian zodiac. Indeed, these stars of the cord were alternatively known by the pre-Islamic Arabians as al-hut, "the Fish" (a single fish), corresponding to what in other cultures was Pisces among the zodiacal signs (and according to this tradition, the Fish's brightest star, β And, was batn al-hut, "the Fish's Belly").
