- The Arabic lunar mansion "Al Shaula" ("the sting") refers to the pair Lambda and Upsilon Sco (Al Sufi), the two stars that have been called "the sting of the Scorpion" even in MUL.APIN (I ii 31-32) but with different proper names there. "Shaula" appeared more in early modern literature for the pair of stinger stars after Hyde's (1665) translation of Ulugh Beg, and specifically for Lambda Sco after Piazzi's (1814) Palermo Catalog.
