- Name origin (IAU)
- Franz is a character in the movie "Sissi" embodying an emperor of Austria in the XIXth century. The role is played by the actor Karlheinz Böhm. The male name "Franz" is a German derivative from Italian "Francesco" (Latinized Franciscus), meaning "litte Frenchman" with the Latin root "franc" for "free" also interpretable as "Little Free Man". The name goes back to "Franz von Assisi" (Francis of Assisi, 13th century) whose mother was French which caused his father to call him Francesco.

In everyday life
- Light from this object takes about 726 years to reach Earth — the light you see tonight left around AD 1300 (official distance ÷ speed of light).
- At magnitude 9.9 it is fainter than the naked-eye limit (about 6) — you need binoculars or a telescope.
- Declination 38.2° — it rises above the horizon in Seoul (37.6° N), so it is visible from Korea in the right season.
